The new novel by Jeffrey Archer is now available.  Alexander Karpenko is a young man who does well at school and he is waiting to receive notification of which University he will be able to attend.  Alex’s father, Konstantin, refuses to join the Communist Party and is assassinated.  The KGB makes it appear as if it was an accident but both Alex and his mother, Elena, know differently.

They have to try and leave Russia if they want to stay alive.  They make arrangements to get smuggled out via a cargo ship.  As they arrive at the docks they are presented with one of two crates to climb into.  One goes to America and one goes to Great Britain.  They choose their fate by flipping a coin. In that instant of flipping the coin they change their destinies forever.

We follow the upheaval, fate and fortune of Alex over thirty years and in two continents.  There is a very surprising twist in the tale right at the end which makes you go Oh!
